Withdrawal & Correction Policy

Article Withdrawal Policy

  1. Definition and Scope

This policy has been formulated to regulate the principles and procedures governing the withdrawal of scholarly manuscripts submitted to Journal of Sublime Porte. The term article withdrawal refers to the formal removal of a manuscript—at the request of the author(s)—from the editorial evaluation, peer-review, or publication process.

  1. Withdrawal Prior to the Peer-Review Process

Manuscripts for which the peer-review process has not yet commenced may be withdrawn by the author(s) without the obligation to provide justification. In such cases, it is sufficient for the corresponding author to submit a written request to the editorial office, either via e-mail or through the journal’s submission system. Upon receipt of the request, the editorial office removes the manuscript from the system and provides written confirmation to the author.

  1. Withdrawal During the Peer-Review Process

Once the peer-review process has begun, withdrawal requests must be supported by legitimate and reasonable grounds.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject withdrawal requests that are:

  • unjustified,
  • disruptive to the editorial or review process, or
  • incompatible with established academic norms and ethical standards.

Each request is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and the decision is communicated in writing to the corresponding author.

  1. Withdrawal After Acceptance

Following acceptance, article withdrawal is permitted only in exceptional and compelling circumstances. Such circumstances may include, but are not limited to:

  • the identification of serious ethical violations,
  • disputes concerning authorship or contribution statements,
  • major methodological errors that directly undermine the scientific validity of the study.

At this stage, withdrawal requests must be submitted to the editorial office in the form of a formal and reasoned written statement. If the request is approved, a transparent Withdrawal Notice is published on the journal’s website in relation to the article concerned.

  1. Submission Procedure and Communication

Withdrawal requests may be submitted exclusively by the corresponding author. Each request must clearly and completely include the following information:

  • the full title of the manuscript,
  • the name(s) of the author(s),
  • the date of submission,
  • the explicit reason for withdrawal.

All requests are reviewed by the editorial office, and the outcome is communicated in writing. Correspondence regarding withdrawals should be directed to: editor@sublimeporte.org

  1. Ethical Principles and Improper Conduct

Withdrawing a manuscript during the peer-review process solely for the purpose of submitting it simultaneously or subsequently to another journal is regarded as unethical conduct. In cases where such practices are identified, the journal reserves the right to:

  • impose submission restrictions on the author(s) concerned,
  • formally document the incident within its editorial records.

In all such matters, the journal acts in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Final Note: This policy has been established to ensure transparency, continuity, and ethical responsibility in academic publishing. All authors submitting manuscripts to Sublime Porte are expected to read and adhere to this policy prior to submission.

  1. Correction Policy
  2. Purpose and Scope

Sublime Porte – Journal of Studies in the Transmissions of Thought is firmly committed to safeguarding the accuracy, coherence, and continuity of the scholarly record.

This policy sets forth the principles and procedures governing the correction of errors, inaccuracies, or omissions identified in articles published by the journal. Correction practices encompass:

  • minor errors, such as typographical or formatting mistakes,
  • substantive issues affecting scholarly interpretation or integrity, including errors in data, methodology, authorship information, or citations.
  1. Types of Corrections

The following categories of corrections may be applied by the journal:

a) Erratum (Publisher-Initiated Correction): Issued when an error arising from the editorial, production, or publication process affects the accuracy or presentation of the article.

b) Corrigendum (Author-Initiated Correction): Issued when an error attributable to the author(s) is identified that affects the content, interpretation, or scientific integrity of the work.

c) Addendum: Published when it becomes necessary to provide significant additional information, clarification, or data that enhances the understanding or evaluation of the article after publication.

  1. Correction Procedure

Authors or readers who identify an error or omission in a published article should notify the editorial office at editor@sublimeporte.org.

The Editorial Board evaluates the notification and determines the appropriate course of action based on the nature of the issue. Where correction is deemed necessary, an official correction notice is published by the journal.

Each correction notice:

  • clearly identifies the original article, including its title, DOI, and publication date,
  • explicitly states the nature and justification of the correction,
  • is permanently linked to the original article in accordance with the principle of scholarly transparency.
  1. Post-Publication Scholarly Integrity

All corrections are published without undue delay and are permanently associated with the original article to preserve the integrity and continuity of the scholarly record.

In all post-publication matters—including corrections, updates, and withdrawals—Sublime Porte adheres strictly to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
